On behalf of the National Tourism Organisation of Serbia, I had the privilege of welcoming to Belgrade a distinguished delegation from the Ministry of Tourism of Cyprus, led by Minister Mr. Kostas Koumis.
It is always a particular responsibility — and a quiet honor — to present one’s city and country to guests who are discovering it for the first time.
During their visit, we explored some of Belgrade’s most significant landmarks, including the Temple of Saint Sava and the Belgrade Fortress — places where layers of history meet the present moment. Conversations unfolded naturally, moving from Serbia’s sporting achievements to gastronomy, culture, and the deeper historical currents that have shaped this region.
Minister Koumis remarked that he was especially struck by Belgrade’s vibrant and lively atmosphere — something that cannot be explained, only experienced.
For all members of the delegation, this first encounter with Serbia will not be the last. They expressed a sincere wish to return.
The visit concluded with a tasting of exceptional white and red wines from Jeremić Winery — a refined introduction to another dimension of Serbia’s heritage.
Strengthening tourism dialogue between Serbia and Cyprus is more than institutional cooperation; it is about building trust and lasting connections that reflect the enduring friendship between our two countries.
