Srdjan Ristić was born in Belgrade, one of the oldest places on Earth, a unique capital city situated at the crossroads of East and West. Its turbulent destiny influenced the character of its inhabitants for many generations. He comes from an old Belgrade family whose members left their mark on the life of the city over the past 200 years. Among them were people of different ethnicities, religions, and cultures. The diversity in his family background has given him a deep appreciation and sense of neutrality for the complex historical and sociological processes that have unfolded in Serbia.
During the last more than 20 years, as a tourism professional, he has traveled the world and has visited more than 50 countries. This phase of his career saw its peak in 2010 when he accompanied travelers on a journey around the world that touched on four continents in 31 days. Besides traveling abroad, Mr. Ristić has worked as a local guide and heritage interpreter for guests visiting Serbia.
In 2009 he started to work as a guest lecturer on river cruise ships, sharing the beauty and uniqueness of his country and its people with visitors. His lecture Serbia Explained: A Country at the Crossroads of the Worlds provides an insight into the present moment of the country and lays the foundation for a deeper understanding of the complex historical events that took place in the Balkans and former Yugoslavia and shaped the present of its residents.
In 2015 he created a lecture East Meets west – Our Oriental Heritage that represents a story about the turbulent and exciting meeting place and a melting pot of many different civilizations, kingdoms, empires, and religions – The Balkans – and how it influenced characters, values, habits, and culture in Europe and the rest of the world.
Mr. Ristić is the founder of Explore Belgrade!, a tour-guiding company driven by a desire to provide the highest quality experience to visitors. Carefully chosen professional guides have delivered the Art of Guiding to Serbia’s visitors since 2010. The company has an excellent reputation and received the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence reward for the years 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018. Explore Belgrade! closely cooperates with the National Tourism Organization of Serbia, and hosts foreign delegations, journalists, media teams, and other V.I.P. visitors, important for tourism development in Serbia.
Srdjan was born in 1968, and lives and works in Belgrade. He is a proud father of two daughters, Milica and Sara.
